How to bury the deceased

The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 17880 )
Q 4: How to bury the deceased: The Malikis: They place the deceased from the front after laying him in the grave, as they consider it permissible to place him from any
direction, whether from the front, the right, or the left. The Hanbalis: It is not permissible to place him from the front or from any other direction except from the right, as that is what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did. Also, the Malikis place the soil of the grave above the burial site after filling the grave with soil, while the Hanbalis consider that a religious innovation. Also, the Malikis take three handfuls of soil from the front and place them in the grave while reciting some verses of the Qur'an, such as the Verse of the Throne, before covering the deceased with all the soil, and the Hanbalis consider that a religious innovation. Also, the Malikis make du'a for the deceased at the grave, raising their hands , and after returning from the grave, they make du'a for him, raising their hands, and the Hanbalis consider that contrary to the Sunnah and a religious innovation. Also, on the seventh day, the Malikis hold a gathering for the deceased to recite the Qur'an and give charity on behalf of the deceased's family, and they consider that part of the obligation, and that specifying the seventh day is required, while the Hanbalis consider that a religious innovation with no basis in truth.
Vol. 4 : The deceased is placed in his grave from whichever side makes it easiest to lower him in, and the best is from the foot of the grave; based on the report that has come regarding this. He is placed in his niche on his right side facing the qiblah, and the niche is sealed with bricks or whatever serves as a substitute for them, then earth is thrown over it and raised from the ground by the amount of
a hand's breadth, rounded off like this. This is how the Sunnah came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so that its markers are known and it is not trampled upon. Nothing from the Qur'an is to be recited at his burial; because that is a religious innovation, as nothing has come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicating that. It is recommended to stand at the grave of the deceased after his burial and supplicate for him for forgiveness and steadfastness, as this has been established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It is not permissible to hold a gathering after his death in which the Qur'an is recited and charity is given on behalf of the deceased; rather, what is prescribed is supplicating for the deceased and giving charity on his behalf absolutely, without holding a gathering or specifying a certain time; because that is considered a religious innovation, as nothing has come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicating it. It is obligatory for Muslims in general, and for the scholars in particular, to take the rulings from the Book and the Sunnah, not from the schools of jurisprudence; because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says:[An-Nisa 4:65] , and He says (Glorified is He): [Al-Hashr 59:7] , and He says (Glorified is He): [An-Nisa 4:59] , and the common people ask
the scholars about what is difficult for them, and it is upon the scholars to issue rulings for them based on what the Noble Book and the Pure Sunnah indicate, acting in accordance with the mentioned verses, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 1835c and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih al-Bukhari 7280 and the verses and hadiths in this meaning are many. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission.
And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from

فَإِنْ تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلاthe scholars about what is difficult for them, and it is upon the scholars to issue rulings for them based on what the Noble Book and the Pure Sunnah indicate, acting in accordance with the mentioned verses, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):

كل أمتي يدخلون الجنة إلا من أبى، قيل: يا رسول الله: ومن يأبى؟ قال: من أطاعني دخل الجنة ومن عصاني فقد أبى
