The Order in Ablution

The second question of Fatwa No. ( 15410 )
Q 2: Some jurists have said regarding ablution: that it is not necessary to adhere to the order in ablution, and that it is permissible to wash the foot before the hand, or the foot before the face. Also, cleaning oneself after relieving oneself is not necessary if a person has not urinated, even when getting up from sleep; it is not necessary to clean oneself. We ask for your guidance so that we may be clear in our religion. May Allah guide you.
A 2: The order in ablution is obligatory, beginning with washing the face, then washing the hands with the elbows, then wiping the head with the ears, then washing the feet with the ankles, as mentioned in the noble verse and as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did. He said:Sahih Muslim 1218a. As for cleaning oneself after relieving oneself, it is not part of ablution, but rather part of removing impurity; a person does it when he relieves himself of urine or feces before starting ablution, even if there is a long interval between them, and he does not repeat it at the time of ablution. As for sleep, passing wind, and the like, cleaning oneself is not prescribed for them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
