Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q32: The questioner asks: What is the meaning of the order in ablution, and what is intended by continuity in ablution? What is its ruling?
A32: The order in ablution is to arrange the limbs of ablution as they came in the verse:
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the anklesيَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَامْسَحُوا بِرُءُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:6]
, starting with the face, then the mouth rinse and nose sniff, after
the face, he washes the hands, and washes the feet after wiping the head, thus in order. As for continuity, it is: not delaying the washing of a limb until the one before it dries; this is not permissible, so one does not delay a limb until the limb before it dries in moderate weather, but he continues; because this is how it was reported in the ablution of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
