The Hadith: There is no harm and no reciprocating harm

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 18424 )
Q 1: What is the explanation of the hadith:
It was narrated from 'Ubadah bin Samit that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ruled: “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.”لا ضرر ولا ضرار
Sunan Ibn Majah 2340Da'if (Darussalam)
?

A 1: "Darr" (harm) is the name, and "darrar" (reciprocating harm) is the action. So the meaning of "no darr" is that one does not bring harm upon another that he did not bring upon himself, and the meaning of "no darrar" is that one does not reciprocate harm with another. This hadith is one of the major principles of Islam, under which many jurisprudential issues and their subsidiary rules fall. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
