Preaching on Friday about a biographical account, such as the biography of one of the Companions

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 20635 )
Q: Is it prescribed for the preacher to preach on Friday about a biographical account, such as the biography of one of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) or one of the Tabi'un (the generation after the Companions) or similar, among those who have virtue and influence in Islam, such that the two Friday sermons include the biography, deeds, and characteristics of that biographical subject?
A: The Friday sermon should not be limited to the biography of a person; rather, it should include the command to fear Allah, good admonition, and clarification of what people need in their religious affairs. If the biography of a good person is mentioned by way of citing evidence and encouraging good role models, there is nothing wrong with it, but the sermon should not be limited to that. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
