Permissible play in the mosque
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 18951 )
Q 1: What is the ruling on permissible play and joking in the mosque with the intention of driving away boredom and weariness?
A 1: The purpose of building mosques is for prayer, the remembrance of Allah, reciting the Qur'an, teaching knowledge, and the like. It is obligatory to protect them from anything that undermines this purpose. As for joking and a little talk about worldly matters, there is nothing wrong with it, provided that it does not cause annoyance to those praying or reciting. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
