A Note on the Fact That the Permissible Toys for Girls Are Those Made in the Home
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Before moving on from this topic to a new one, and as is our custom, reciting its hadiths from the book *al-Targhib*, I wish to point out something that does not fall under this exception, even though it is contrary to what many people assume. The girls' toys whose permissibility is mentioned in the hadith are only those toys made within the home. These idols and statues that come to our countries from the lands of disbelief, open sinfulness, and indecency under the name of children's entertainment are not among these permissible toys for young children. These toys are not made in our homes or our country, but rather in the lands of disbelief. These images do not contain the benefits we mentioned regarding the images made in the home, such as practicing sewing and the like. Therefore, the reason for the exception of these images from the prohibition does not appear in them. Furthermore, these images carry with them the customs of the non-Muslims, the customs of the disbelievers, in terms of clothing, adornment, and the like. It is as if we are transferring these disbelieving customs to our daughters, while they are still young, so they become accustomed to them before they are tested by their own clothing... which depicts a girl wearing what is called in Arabic "tubban," meaning clothing without sleeves, such as shorts or leggings. She sees this, and she may grow up with it and desire such clothing for herself, even if the custom and piety of her family do not support her in wearing such clothing at this age. She grows up and grows up, seeing these sights, becoming accustomed to them, and later desiring such clothing and such adornment, which is not the adornment of Muslims. Therefore, I do not consider these statues and idols that fathers buy for their children to be among the images that are excepted from the prohibition.
This is what I wished to remind you of, and the reminder benefits the believers.
