Permissible games for girls.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Praise is to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own souls and from the evil of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever He leaves to misguide, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]. يا أيها الذين آمنوا اتقوا الله حق تقاته ولا تموتن إلا وأنتم مسلمون
[Ali 'Imran 3:102]
,
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
[An-Nisa 4:1]
,
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment. يا أيها الذين آمنوا اتقوا الله وقولوا قولًا سديدًا يصلح لكم أعمالكم ويغفر لكم ذنوبكم ومن يطع الله ورسوله فقد فاز فوزًا عظيمًا
[Al-Ahzab 33:70-71]

The questioner: ... ... So do these fall under the prohibition or not ... ?

The Shaykh: There is no doubt that I have mentioned this more than once; the permissible games for girls, and our basis for this is the hadith of Aisha mentioned earlier, are only household games; that is, those made at home from rags and cloth. They are not these games that come from the Western countries in various shapes and colors, as you have just heard. I have sometimes seen a young girl carrying an idol taller than the girl herself; because it is made of plastic, it is light. These are idols, and this is not permissible. These are not the games that the Messenger - peace and blessings be upon him - permitted for the Lady Aisha. In the permission of games for girls, there is something of what is called today home management; training the girl to practice something related to sewing clothes, stitching, attaching a button, and the like. This is the goal, not mere play, so that we decorate our homes with such idols that come to us from the lands of disbelief. The games are those that originate from the home; the mother, the sister, the aunt, and then the mother makes something of these games for these young girls so that they can practice what we referred to earlier.
Added to this is that the disbelievers export to us, through these games, their customs, traditions, and morals. Or, for example, in many cases, you find the doll or game is a girl with hair cut short like a boy, so the girls are influenced from a young age and want to imitate such games that they were raised playing with. The game comes from Europe and the girl is dressed in a dress that goes to the middle of the thighs, so she does not wear the long dress that covers even the legs. And so these games bring the harms that we fight day and night, and then we support them by bringing such games or toys into our Muslim homes; under the claim that these are licensed games. These are not the licensed games, but rather the games that originate from our customs, traditions, and homes. Yes.
