The third question of Fatwa No. ( 18884 )
Q 3: When I come to pray, I say to myself: I intend to pray such-and-such prayer in congregation, and I say the takbir. Then, after the takbir, I say: Subhanaka
Allahu wa bihamdika wa tabarakasmuka wa ta'ala jadduka wa la ilaha ghayruk. Then I recite al-Fatihah and whatever of the Qur'an is easy for me. Is this intention of mine valid? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A 3: Uttering the intention is an innovation that was not part of the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). Therefore, it is not permissible, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 1718a , and in another narration: Sahih Muslim 1718b . The intention is only in the heart. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
