Fatwa No. ( 20478 )
Q: One of my friends gave me a hadith that he had found, but I searched for it and could not find it, due to the absence of reference books in our area. This hadith is:
When My servant reaches the age of forty, I will protect him from the three calamities: madness, leprosy, and vitiligo. When he reaches the age of fifty, I will account for him with an easy reckoning. When he reaches the age of sixty, I will make repentance beloved to him. When he reaches the age of seventy, the angels will love him. When he reaches the age of eighty, his good deeds will be recorded and his evil deeds will be cast away. When he reaches the age of ninety, the angels will say: "A slave of Allah is walking on earth," so his previous and subsequent sins will be forgiven, and intercession will be made for his family. When he reaches the last stage of old age, Allah will write for him the same good that he used to do in his health, and if he does an evil deed, it will not be recorded.
I ask for information regarding the authenticity of this hadith or its inauthenticity.

A: The hadith mentioned is very weak; in fact, some of the preservers of hadith have ruled that it is fabricated, as stated in (Al-La'ali al-Masnu'ah fi al-Ahadith al-Mawdu'ah) by Al-Suyuti (1/138). Therefore, it is not permissible to attribute it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
