Is it obligatory for one who has memorized a hadith from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to convey it to the people, even if they do not ask him about the hadith?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it obligatory for one who has memorized a hadith from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to convey it to the people, even if they do not ask him about the hadith?

The Shaykh : The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Convey from me, even if it be an Ayah بلغوا عني ولو آية
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2669Sahih (Darussalam)
So, if the people need the explanation and transmission of the hadith, it is obligatory for the one who knows it to convey it, but on the condition that he knows that this hadith is a proof, meaning that it is authentic or good. As for weak hadiths, it is obligatory for a person to clarify them to the people so that they are not deceived by them. Likewise, if a person is asked about a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), it is obligatory for him to convey it. Thus, the transmission of the hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is obligatory in two cases:
When the situation requires it.
And the second: when he is asked about it.
As for when he is not asked about it and the situation does not require it, then its transmission is a recommended practice (sunnah) and not obligatory. However, a person should beware of attributing to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) anything he does not know to be authentic or good and usable as a proof. Indeed, many of the brothers, especially the preachers, bring hadiths that have no basis, weak hadiths, or even fabricated hadiths, believing that there is benefit for the people in that, and a deterrent from the disobedience of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). But while this may be beneficial in terms of admonishing the people, warning them against violations, and encouraging them toward obedience, it contains a great harm, which is attributing to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) what he did not say. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
He who lies about me deliberately will certainly come to his abode in Hell. من كذب علي متعمداً فليتبوأ مقعده من النار
Sunan Abi Dawud 3651Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever narrates from me a hadith that he knows to be a lie, or that he sees to be a lie, is one of the liars. من حدث عني بحديث يرى أنه كذب أو يرى أنه كذب فهو أحد الكاذبين
So, let the brothers beware of attributing to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) what is not established as being attributed to him.
