Fatwa number ( 17633 )
Q: When the worshippers finish the congregational prayer, a worshipper says to his brother or to the worshipper next to him: “May Allah accept your prayer,” and the other replies: “May Allah accept our prayer and the prayer of all the believers.” What is your ruling on this?
A: It is not prescribed for a worshipper to say to the person next to him after the taslim, “May Allah accept your prayer”; rather, that is a religious innovation (bid'ah). This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did not do so. It is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 1718a . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
