Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 12141 )
Q: Is it permissible to say this phrase, for example, when a man leaves the mosque after having performed the prayer, or after fasting, for example, a day for the sake of Allah—he says: (May Allah accept it), since I have noticed that it contains a kind of command, and Allah the Exalted is not to be commanded, so please inform us, may Allah reward you with good?
A: It is prescribed for the one leaving the mosque to supplicate with what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
When anyone of enters the mosque, let him send peace upon the Prophet, then let him say: 'Allahumma aftahli abwaba rahmatik (O Allah, open to me the gates of Your mercy).' And when he leaves,إذا دخل أحدكم المسجد فليسلم على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وليقل: اللهم افتح لي أبواب رحمتك، وإذا خرج فليقل: اللهم إني أسألك من فضلك
Sunan Ibn Majah 773Sahih (Darussalam)
, as for the one who says: (May Allah accept it), it is a statement, its meaning being a supplication from a Muslim to his brother, and it is not a command, and there is no harm in that, just as if he said: May Allah accept from us or from so-and-so, it is a supplication, not a command.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
