Celebration by some Islamic institutions of the Prophet's birthday

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16099 )
Q2: Some Islamic institutions celebrate the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do this, or did he order it after his death (peace and blessings be upon him)?

A2: Celebrating the occasion of the Prophet's birthday is a forbidden religious innovation; because there is no evidence for it in the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and none of his Rightly Guided Caliphs or the best generations practiced it, and because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
You must then follow my sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error.
Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani)
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
