Fatwa No. ( 17934 )
Q: There is an insect called the "wasp." It is a large fly that resembles the bee, eats bees, and eats people. It is dangerous, and it resides in one place with approximately a thousand flies or more. Is it permissible for us to burn them with fire?
A: It is not permissible to kill any of the harmful creatures with fire, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade torturing with fire. However, they should be killed with something other than fire, such as types of pesticides, in order to repel their harm.
