Intentional Failure of Students

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 14656 )
Q: Is it permissible for the school principal or one of the teachers to intentionally cause a student to fail, or to work to incite her failure in any subject, or to deduct some of the marks she earned without cheating, but from her own answers, whether written or oral? I have seen this in the school where I work.
A : It is forbidden for the school principal or any other responsible woman
to intentionally cause a student to fail, or to incite her failure, or to deduct any of the marks she rightfully earned, whether in written or oral exams; because of the injustice involved in this. Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has forbidden injustice, as in the Qudsi Hadith:
Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: "O My servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another.إن الله جل شأنه يقول: يا عبادي: إني حرمت الظلم على نفسي وجعلته بينكم محرمًا فلا تظالموا
Sahih Muslim 2577a
And upon the one who did this is repentance and seeking forgiveness for what occurred. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
