Q: I was the owner of a shop, and I have debts remaining with people that are not expected to be repaid. Since I am seeking the most beneficial wage: is it better for me to forgive them or leave them in the debtor's liability?
A : Whoever has a right over another person, whether in money or otherwise, has the option to forgive the one who owes the right, and he has the option to collect it. Forgiving is better. Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:280] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

And if someone is in hardship, then [let there be] postponement until [a time of] ease. But if you give [from your right as] charity, then it is better for you, if you only knew.
