Question 11 from Fatwa No. ( 10896 )
Q11: If I mention a real story without naming names, is this considered backbiting?
A11 : If it is unpleasant and there are no circumstances that identify or make it more likely to be the people involved in the incident, then it is not backbiting. But if it stirs up evil, or if it is a means to corruption, then mentioning it is forbidden for that reason, even if it is not backbiting. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
