Q: Many rumors are being spread about imported butter and Pepsi ,
and it is often heard that forbidden substances are added to Pepsi and butter.
A: As for what concerns imported butter and Pepsi, we have not found anything in them that necessitates prohibition; for the original ruling for things is permissibility until what necessitates prohibition becomes clear. However, if something arises in a person’s heart that causes him doubt, let him leave it for what does not cause him doubt; due to the hadith that has come regarding that. We have written to the Ministry of Commerce regarding what was said about imported butter, and they responded that it is free from what is rumored about it, namely its being mixed with something forbidden. We ask Allah the Exalted to guide us all to understanding in His religion. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
