Definition of Riba, Bribery, and Theft

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 18412 )
Q3: What is the definition of riba, bribery, and theft, and what is the difference between them?
A3: Riba in the Shari'ah is the increase obtained by exchanging a ribawi item with its kind, or by delaying the taking of possession in cases where immediate exchange is obligatory among ribawi items. Bribery is the offering of money or the like to nullify a right or to establish a falsehood. Theft is taking another person's property secretly from its place of safety without right. The difference between bribery and theft is clear from the definitions.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
