The Ruling on Bribery

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A question is asked, saying: Is bribery forbidden?

Answer:
Yes, bribery is a major sin among the major sins, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who gives the bribe and the one who takes it; and because it leads to falsehood, injustice, consuming what is forbidden, and betraying the one who is bribed; therefore, it is not permissible to engage in it in any way. It is paying money to someone who will betray you, give you something that is not your right, or give you priority over others who are entitled to it, in order to receive a bribe. This is the bribe you give the employee so that he gives you something that is not your right, or does for you what is not permissible, or what the system, work, and instructions he has do not approve of, and the only thing that leads him to do so is the money you paid him. This is called bribery, so it is forbidden for you and for him both. In the hadith, the curse is upon both the one who gives the bribe and the one who takes it. Likewise, if you give it to him so that he gives you priority over people who are more deserving of the thing you requested, but he gives you priority over them because of the bribe, this is also from what is wrong. We ask Allah for safety. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
