Q: I submit this request to your eminence, and I inform you that I am one of the employees working in the Communications Department of Riyadh City (Directory Inquiry Section 905). I frequently receive calls from subscribers asking me to give them the numbers of video shops and stereo shops. I hesitate to give them these numbers for fear of sharing in their sin; therefore, I hope you will issue a ruling on the permissibility of giving subscribers the numbers of video and stereo shops.
A: It is not permissible to give the numbers of video and music stereo shops to those who request them; because that constitutes assisting in sin and facilitating access to it. Allah, Glorious is His Majesty, has forbidden cooperation in sin and disobedience, as He said
(Glorified and Exalted is He):[Al-Ma'idah 5:2] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
