Mutual Nursing Between Muslims and Christians and Its Effect

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 4668 )
Q: Is it permissible for a Muslim woman to nurse a Christian child, and is it permissible for a Christian woman to nurse a Muslim child , and what is the ruling regarding this child in Islam if the nursing actually takes place? I ask for an answer to this question. Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
A: First : It is permissible for a Muslim woman to nurse a Christian child, and it is permissible for a Christian woman to nurse a Muslim child; because the original ruling in such matters is permissibility, and no evidence has been found that changes this, rather this is a matter of excellence in worship, and Allah has prescribed excellence in everything. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
There is reward in every living being with a moist liverفي كل ذي كبد رطبة أجر
. Second : If the nursing of both is completed, the ruling of each of them in Islam does not change from what it was before this nursing. So whoever was ruled as Muslim before the nursing remains Muslim after it, and whoever was ruled as Christian before the nursing remains ruled as Christian after it.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
