The Meaning of Knowing Islam by Evidence

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 13507 )
Q 3: What is the meaning of the author’s statement in (The Footnotes on the Three Fundamental Principles): “It is obligatory to know Islam by evidence”? The author says in the same footnote: “Allah sent a Messenger to us, so whoever obeys him enters Paradise, and whoever disobeys him enters the Fire.” Is the intended meaning obedience to the Messenger or the oneness of lordship?
A 3: The meaning of the author’s statement: “It is obligatory to know Islam by evidence,” is that it is obligatory for the one who has reached the age of accountability to learn Islam through its pillars from its original sources, which are the Noble Qur’an and the Noble Sunnah. He learns tawhid (the oneness of Allah), what diminishes it, and what contradicts it. He learns the ritual prayer, its conditions, pillars, obligatory acts, and recommended practices from the Noble Qur’an and from the words, deeds, and approvals of the Chosen One (peace and blessings be upon him). And so it is with the remaining pillars of Islam and its laws. The intended meaning of his statement: “Allah sent a Messenger to us, so whoever obeys him enters Paradise, and whoever disobeys him enters the Fire,” is that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) sent Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) with tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and the rest of the laws of the religion. So whoever responds and enters the religion of Allah the Exalted, and complies with what Allah commanded him, and refrains from what Allah has forbidden, enters Paradise. And whoever contradicts and disobeys the Messenger and does not enter the religion of Allah, for him is
the Fire; therefore Allah the Exalted said:
He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian.مَنْ يُطِعِ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ وَمَنْ تَوَلَّى فَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا
[An-Nisa 4:80]
, and it is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
All my Ummah (Muslim community) will enter Paradise except those who refuse. They said: Who will refuse, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me has refused.كل أمتي يدخلون الجنة إلا من أبى. قالوا: ومن يأبى يا رسول الله؟ قال: من أطاعني دخل الجنة، ومن عصاني فقد أبى
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
