Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A listener from Sudan, named al-Tijani Adam, sent a question asking: From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"All my followers will enter Paradise except those who refuse." They said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Who will refuse?" He said, "Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me is the one who refuses (to enter it)."
Sahih al-Bukhari 7280
Please explain this hadith to us and what its meaning is. May Allah reward you with good?

Answer:
This hadith is authentic (sahih). Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
All my followers will enter Paradise except those who refuse.
Sahih al-Bukhari 7280
It was said: O Messenger of Allah, who will refuse? He said:
Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me is the one who refuses (to enter it).
Sahih al-Bukhari 7280
And whoever does not follow him has refused. Whoever follows the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), affirms the oneness of Allah, and remains upright upon the Shari'ah, performing the prayers, paying the zakah, fasting Ramadan, being dutiful to his parents, and restraining himself from the prohibitions of Allah, such as unlawful sexual intercourse, drinking intoxicants, and the like, this person enters Paradise because he is a follower of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
As for the one who refuses and does not submit to the Shari'ah, this means: he has refused. It means that he has prevented himself from entering Paradise through his evil deeds. This is the meaning of the hadith.
It is obligatory (wajib) for the Muslim to submit to the Shari'ah of Allah and to follow Muhammad (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) in what he brought, for he is the true Messenger of Allah, the Seal of the Prophets (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him). Allah said regarding him:
Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sinsقُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ
[Al Imran: 31]. Following him (peace and blessings be upon him) is among the causes of love, the love of Allah for the servant, and among the causes of forgiveness and entering Paradise. As for his disobedience and contradiction, that is among the causes of the anger of Allah and entering the Fire. Whoever does that has refused. Whoever refuses to obey the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) has refused.
It is obligatory for every Muslim, and indeed for every inhabitant of the earth, men and women, jinn and humans, that they all submit to his Shari'ah (peace and blessings be upon him) and follow it, obey his commands, and refrain from his prohibitions. This is the cause of entering Paradise. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah
[An-Nisa: 80], and He the Exalted said:
Say, "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon him is only that [duty] with which he has been charged, and upon you is that with which you have been charged. And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [responsibility for] clear notification."
[An-Nur: 54]. And He the Exalted says:
Say, [O Muhammad], "O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all, [from Him] to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death." So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered prophet, who believes in Allah and His words, and follow him that you may be guided.
[Al-A'raf: 158]. And before that, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: :
So they who have believed in himفَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِهِ
[Al-A'raf: 157], meaning: by Muhammad (peace be upon him)
So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful.
[Al-A'raf: 157]. And He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said in His clear Book:
And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
[Al-Hashr: 7]. And the verses in this meaning are numerous.
It is obligatory (wajib) for every person of sound mind and every Muslim to affirm the oneness of Allah, adhere to Islam, follow the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), obey his commands, and refrain from his prohibitions. This is the path to Paradise and its way. Whoever refuses this has refused. We ask Allah for safety. Yes.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
