The Biological Clock

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 19458 )
Q: We inform Your Eminence that an advertisement was published in one of the newspapers regarding a clock called (the Biological Clock), and the advertisement stated the following:
( The Biological Clock is an indicator of fertility, helping you organize your family and plan to obtain a specific gender, in accordance with the noble Prophetic hadith:
If the water of the male prevails over the water of the female, the child will be a male, and if the water of the female prevails over the water of the male, the child will be a femaleإذا علا ماء الذكر ماء الأنثى كان المولود ذكرًا، وإذا علا ماء الأنثى ماء الذكر كان المولود أنثى
End of quote. As attached to Your Eminence. My question, O honorable Mufti: Is there any religious violation in these statements? Is it permissible to use the aforementioned clock? And can the desired gender actually be selected through it? I hope for your guidance. May Allah guide Your Eminence to what is good and correct.

A: It is not permissible to use this clock for the purpose mentioned, nor to believe in what is claimed about it; because the matter of fetuses, in terms of their creation in the wombs and their being male or female, is from the knowledge of the unseen, which no one knows except Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Even the angel in charge of the fetuses asks his Lord when the soul is breathed into it: (Is it a male or a female?) to the end of what came in the hadith. And Allah the Exalted said:
He creates what he wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males. (50) Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent.
[Ash-Shuraa 42:49-50]
.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
