Some of the Innovations of the Alawiyyah Path

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 21045 )
Q: Recently, the Alawiyyah Path has appeared among us. They are known to us by the name "al-Fuqara" (the Poor), and they are like the Sufis , and so on. The Alawiyyah are a group of people who remember Allah and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) every Thursday evening, or when one of them who follows this path dies. As I said, when one of them dies, they come from the provinces of Algeria. They wear white clothes and perform movements like madmen. I ask you to answer this question so that I may remove the doubts in people's hearts. Thank you.
A: It is obligatory to remember Allah the Exalted in the manner established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the authentic hadiths, in terms of the time and the wording of the dhikr. Whatever contradicts the Prophetic Sunnah is a religious innovation (bid'ah) that is rejected and returned to its originator. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
. The dhikr described in the question is a religious innovation (bid'ah) because it contradicts the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It is also obligatory to do with the funerals of Muslims what the authentic Sunnah prescribes: washing the deceased, shrouding him, praying over him, making du'a for him, accompanying him to his grave, and burying him in the manner prescribed by the Shari'ah. Whatever contradicts this is a forbidden religious innovation (bid'ah), such as the use of special clothing for accompanying funerals, performing movements, raising voices, wailing, seeking nearness to Allah through a means (tawassul)
and seeking blessing from the deceased or his grave. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
