The Meaning of This Verse: There Is No Compulsion in Religion

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q5: If we say: It is not permissible for a non-Muslim to call people to their religions, does this not contradict the noble verse:
There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religionلاَ إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:256]
?

A5 : Yes, it is not permissible for non-Muslims to call Muslims to their false creeds and religions, as mentioned in the previous answer. This does not contradict the saying of Allah the Exalted:
There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religionلاَ إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:256]
the verse; because the meaning of this verse is: Due to the perfection of the religion of Islam in its proofs and evidence, the clarity of its verses, and the fact that it is the religion of reason and knowledge, the religion of fitrah (the innate natural disposition) and wisdom, the religion of goodness and reform, and the religion of truth and guidance; for all of these reasons, it does not need
compulsion to be imposed upon it; because compulsion is only applied to that which hearts reject and which conflicts with reality and truth, or to that whose proofs and verses are hidden. As for the religion of Islam, if someone comes to it and then rejects it and does not accept it, it is due to his stubbornness and arrogance against the truth. The right path has become distinct from error, so no one has an excuse or argument if he rejects it and does not accept it. And Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his interpretation of this verse: (Meaning: Do not compel anyone to enter the religion of Islam, for it is clear, obvious, and manifest. Its evidence and proofs do not require anyone to be compelled to enter it. Rather, whoever Allah guides to Islam, and expands his chest and illuminates his insight, enters it with certainty. And whoever Allah blinds the heart of, and seals his hearing and sight, being compelled and forced to enter the religion will not benefit him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
