Seeking Nearness to Allah Through the Messengers
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 17058 )
Q3: Some people say in their supplication: “O Allah, we ask You by Your messengers to provide for us and to heal us,” and so on. Is such a thing permissible?
A3 : It is not permissible to seek nearness to Allah in supplication through the prophets or anyone else, such as saying: “I ask You by Your prophets”; because this is swearing by Allah’s creation, and it is a religious innovation and a means to associating partners with Allah. However, the supplicant should seek nearness to Allah through His names and attributes, and through faith and righteous deeds. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
