Expiation for a Forbidden Vow

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 11265 )
Q: I vowed that I would fast the month of Rajab for one month, as they used to hold Rajab in higher esteem than other months, except for Ramadan, at that time. I have not fasted this vow since then because of worldly affairs; every time I said I would do it next year, my affairs increased more than the year before. My question is: Am I obligated to fast Rajab, or do I have the right to fast any month of the year for my vow? Second: I am afflicted with diabetes, may Allah protect you, and Ramadan does not end without hardship. Do I have the right to feed the poor, and I do not know any poor people except one family. Is it permissible to give them all the feeding? And if that is not permissible, should I give to a charitable organization like King Abdulaziz's Society, and what type of expenditure is it; is it money or rice? And if feeding is not permissible in the vow
Is it permissible for me to fast scattered days over a period of ten days from each month, for example? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

A: You must expiate with the expiation for an oath; because singling out Rajab for fasting is a matter of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. The expiation is: feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If you do not find the means to do so, fast three days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
