Giving the father a drug that forces him to quit smoking

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa number ( 16318 )
Q 2: My father is afflicted with smoking, and we have a drug that makes him quit it permanently, but it causes him to be ill for two or three days. Is it permissible for me to give it to him without his knowledge? He refuses to use it, and smoking has caused him many problems.
A 2: Smoking is forbidden; because of the great harms in it and the lack of benefit in smoking it. It is obligatory for the one who smokes to repent from it and leave it. As for your father who is afflicted with smoking, you must advise him. As for giving him a drug that makes him ill for two days in order for him to quit it, this is not permissible without his knowledge. And Allah knows best. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
