The second question of Fatwa No. ( 4900 )
Q2: We have a person in our mosque who claims to have knowledge and gives people fatwas as he pleases. He constantly creates confusion among the Muslims by declaring this lawful and that forbidden. He also says: "I do not accept tafsir (exegesis); because Allah's speech is clear in the Qur'an, there is no need to take up and study all the tafsirs." I give you an example of his fatwas: He said that changing one's clothes in the mosque is forbidden. We asked him: "What is your evidence?" He said: "Allah the Exalted said:
[Al-A'raf 7:31] So we said to him: This verse does not contain a prohibition on changing clothes, and we brought the exegesis, but he said: I do not accept any exegesis. Also, we have a special hall here above the mosque, which is not the prayer hall, and some of the Muslim brothers here slaughter an 'aqiqah and bring it to the mosque so that the Muslims can eat it, so he says: This is forbidden; because the mosque is only for prayer, dhikr, and du'a'. So we said to him: The mosque is everything; the school, the university, the military college, the place of worship, the place of Muslim gathering, and the Muslim court, as was the case in the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but he did not accept it, and he said: Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Jinn 72:18] the verse. So this man constantly causes argument and confusion among the Muslims, especially since he stands after every prayer and says these things. The question is: Do we prevent this man from coming to the mosque, and are we sinful if we prevent him? Because we tried to convince him by all means, but he was not convinced, and he says: I must enjoin good and forbid evil. Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.
A2 : It is not permissible to prevent the aforementioned person from coming to the mosque, but he should be confronted with proof and argued with in the best manner; because the intended purpose among
the brothers is cooperation in righteousness and piety, and understanding in religious matters through good style and convincing evidence. It is not hidden that mosques were built for the remembrance of Allah, establishing prayer, reciting the Qur'an, and the like, and were not built to be a place for eating food and the like. But if there is a need to eat food in them, on their roofs, or in the rooms attached to them, there is no harm, with care to clean the mosques of the effects of food, and not to harm the praying people, the reciters, and the circles of knowledge with any of the leftovers. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
