The appropriate means to quit smoking

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6687 )
Q 1: A person who has been smoking since childhood, and when he grew up became a teacher of Islamic culture and gained knowledge of his religion, but from time to time he smokes one or two cigarettes daily, how can he quit smoking? Should he eat some snacks like peanuts?
A 1 : It is obligatory for one who has become accustomed to smoking to change his bad habit by whatever he sees as helping him to refrain from smoking, provided it is not forbidden. People’s temperaments are different and their willpower varies, so each person should adopt what suits him in changing this bad habit. This is not impossible, but rather possible, even if it involves hardship that does not exceed the capacity of the one obligated. Hunting birds and animals change their innate temperaments through teaching and training, so how about a human being who has become accustomed to smoking, for example?
