Cooking food with an intoxicating substance
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 6554 )
Q3: In light of the authentic report from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked him about the fat of carrion used to coat ships, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled it forbidden, is it permissible to analogize this to forbid food ingredients? Since they are cooked with an intoxicating substance (alcohol), what is your opinion regarding them, as well as the use of perfumes that contain this substance in their composition?
A3: It is not permissible to use what is intoxicating in large quantities in cooking food or in any other form of benefit; due to the hadith mentioned in the question. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
