As for the locusts, they are well known; Allah the Exalted sends them to eat the crops while they are still green. As for the lice, they are a worm that eats the grain after it has been stored. As for the blood, the correct view is that it is bleeding that comes out of their bodies. As for the frogs, they are that famous, well-known insect that spoils their water. Thus, Allah the Exalted afflicted them with their food and their drink, and even with the substance of their life, which is blood. And this, may Allah protect us from it, is among the punishments that befall them, or rather that befell them, until they turned to Moses (peace be upon him) and asked him to ask Allah the Exalted to remove it from them.
