A man declared his wife forbidden, saying to her, "You are forbidden to me"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa number ( 12488 )
Q2: A man declared his wife forbidden, saying to her: "You are forbidden to me," and this was for a trivial reason, namely a lack of understanding between them. What is the solution? I request the answer with evidence from the honorable Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta, and thank you, may Allah guide you and support you.
A2: If the man intended by declaring his wife forbidden that a divorce take place, then one divorce has occurred by this declaration, and it is permissible for him to take her back as long as she is in the waiting period, provided this is not the third divorce. If the man intended by declaring his wife forbidden to urge her to reconcile with him regarding the disagreement that occurred between them, and did not intend divorce, then the ruling of this declaration is the ruling of an oath. He must expiate the oath, and no divorce occurs regarding his wife. The expiation of the oath is: feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If he finds no means to do so, then he must fast for three days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
