The second question of Fatwa No. ( 8630 )
Q2: If a woman whose husband has died is in her waiting period, we know what she does in terms of avoiding all adornment and staying in the marital home. However, if one of her relatives or her husband’s relatives who is not a mahram visits her to check on her condition and ask about her : should
she respond to him with the words she needs, and if she is ill and there are no female doctors available, should she go to a male doctor and tell him about her illness and expose to him the place where she feels pain?

A: If the situation is as described, it is permissible for her to respond in a way that involves no suspicion or seclusion with him, while observing the use of the Shari'ah-prescribed hijab. It is also permissible for her to go to the doctor if she needs to and cannot find a female doctor to examine her. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
