Obsessions regarding divorce

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 15674 )
Q: I am telling you that I am a married man, praise be to Allah, but when I took a concubine in addition to my wife, I was afflicted with obsessions that very night, and I distressed myself with them. Satan says to me: You spoke the words of divorce, and your life has been separated from your wife. I am in great distress, which Allah knows, but nothing of the sort actually happened on my part. Sometimes a word other than these words comes out, and Satan says to me: No, you spoke with those words. This happens even during prayer, entering the toilet, and intercourse. I am greatly confused by this matter. We ask for a ruling on this matter. Note: I know that he says to me in my heart: Do not do this action, and it will be a good deed. But if I do it, then you have uttered what is forbidden, refuge with Allah. I am greatly confused, and I ask Allah for well-being. Is there a sin on me in this matter? Give us a ruling.
A: The ruling of the marriage remains, and the obsessions mentioned in your question have no effect on the foundation of the marriage. Divorce does not take place unless one speaks it with certainty or writes it with the intention of divorce; for what is in (the two Sahihs) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Allah has overlooked my followers the evil thoughts that occur to their minds, as long as such thoughts are not put into action or uttered.إن الله تعالى تجاوز عن أمتي ما حدثت به أنفسها ما لم تعمل أو تتكلم
Sahih al-Bukhari 5269

And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
