Q: My mother has two sons besides me, and she has a sister named Aisha. Aisha gave birth to two daughters, one of whom is named Noura, and Noura has daughters. My mother told me that Aisha’s daughters are our sisters through breastfeeding. My father married a second wife named Hessa, who bore sons and daughters, and then he married a third wife named Hasna, who bore a son named Abdul Aziz. Our brother Abdul Aziz has requested to marry the daughter of Noura, the daughter of our paternal aunt Aisha. The question is: Is it permissible for our brother Abdul Aziz to marry Noura’s daughter? Knowing that he was not breastfed by our mother, our paternal aunt, or her daughter. May Allah preserve you and guide your steps, and peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
A: It is permissible for your brother Abdul Aziz to marry your paternal aunt’s daughter, provided that neither this daughter nor her mother was breastfed by one of your father’s wives; because there is nothing preventing the marriage in that case.
