The second question of Fatwa number ( 15130 )
Q2:If a girl reaches maturityand is 23 years old, and no righteous young man or anyone else has proposed to her, and she is still a virgin and unmarried, is it permissible for her to tell her guardian that she desires marriage, having children, and caring for her husband’s affairs, so that she may taste the comfort of marriage and the happiness, bliss, and tranquility it contains, so that he will search for a righteous, committed young man and offer his daughter or the one under his guardianship to this young man to marry her? Let his role model in this be'Umar ibn al-Khattab, when he offered his daughterHafsato the righteous men, and then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married her. Please give us a detailed ruling on this, may Allah reward you with good, and is there any advice for the guardians of girls who have not married and to whom no one has proposed, to hasten in offering them to the righteous men? What is the answer? May Allah bless you.
A2: There is no harm in her informing her guardian of her desire to marry, and there is no harm in the woman's guardian offering his daughter or the woman under his guardianship to one whom he believes to be righteous, and in whom he sees goodness and care for the trust, provided that the offer is appropriate. This is supported by what was mentioned in -
The question, regarding the offering of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) of his daughter Hafsa - when she became a widow from her husband - to Abu Bakr and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
