Kissing the Children of One's Father's Wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 3785 )
Q4: Is it permissible for the children to kiss their father's wife, and what is her status with regard to them? Is she their mother, their aunt, or their maternal aunt? And what is the status of the wife's father with regard to his daughter's husband?
A4: It is sufficient for the children to shake hands with their father's wife. Likewise, the father shakes hands with his son's wife and his daughter's husband's daughters, provided they are his daughters' daughters; he greets them and shakes their hands. There is no harm in a man kissing his wife's mother upon returning from a journey or the like, and it is better if it is not on the mouth, but rather on the head, nose, or cheek. There is no harm in calling his wife's mother an aunt or maternal aunt, just as there is no harm for the daughter's husband to call her father an uncle or maternal uncle. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
