Q: Is it permissible for a woman to dance in front of men?
A: It is obligatory for the Muslim woman to be modest and to cover herself completely with the hijab from men who are not mahram, and to stay away from the causes of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). Among the greatest of these is her dancing in front of non-mahram men. This is forbidden and not permissible; it is a cause of fitnah and falling into immorality, and it is contrary to modesty. Therefore, the Muslim woman should stay away from this and from other causes of fitnah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
