A woman kissing a man’s head
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 2830 )
Q5: We have a custom where a woman greets a man by touching his head, and it is as follows: When a man arrives, the man greets all the women, and then they
return the greeting to the man’s head, on the condition that he is wearing a ghutrah or a cap on his head, without kissing or submission from them. Inform me, O honorable Shaykh, what is the ruling on this type of greeting? Knowing that the greeting is free from kissing, meaning: a kiss on the cheek.
A5: That is permissible for a woman to do with her mahram, such as her father, brother, or the like, just as it is permissible for her to shake his hand. As for a non-mahram, it is not permissible for a woman to shake his hand or kiss his head, whether he is wearing a ghutrah or not, out of fear of fitnah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
