The sale of manufactured gold for men
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 4146 )
Q1: Is the sale of manufactured gold for men forbidden, whether the gold is pure or not? Knowing that the gold used is of 14, 18, or 21 karat, and is it a major sin or a minor sin?
A1: It is forbidden for men to wear gold, and the basis for this is what came from the evidence from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicating its prohibition. It is a major sin, and it is forbidden to sell it to men whom one knows will wear it.
Q2: Some nobles argued with me that if the issue were a definitive prohibition, the state would have prevented its sale, especially since it is a state that appeals to the Book of Allah in many matters. What is the ruling in this regard?
A2: It is Allah (Mighty and Majestic) who forbids and permits, as well as His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). The person of legal capacity is responsible for his actions in speech, deed, and belief. If something in his religion is unclear to him, he should ask the people of knowledge, as Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nahl 16:43] . The state does not prevent its sale because it is what women wear, and it is lawful for them, and it is known to Muslims in general that it is not lawful for men.
Q3: If the ruling of its prohibition is established, what is the course of action regarding the quantities we have? Especially since it constitutes at least half of our trade, and it is a quantity estimated in the millions and thousands.
A3: The gold that is not suitable for women can be converted into what is suitable for them, or the portion that is suitable for women can be sold to them.

So ask the people of the message if you do not know.
