The first question of Fatwa No. ( 10575 )
Q1: What must a Muslim do, based on the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), regarding a young Muslim who holds fast to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) by growing his beard, which results in conflict over his livelihood? He has also been subjected to arrest and various forms of torture. Every time he applies for a job, he is objected to and not accepted because he has a beard? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you, taking into account the situation of Muslims in the Arab Republic of Egypt .
A1: Sources of earnings are not limited to working in government jobs; rather, there are many free paths to earning. So, pursue the path of independent work, strive to hold fast to your religion, and stay away from causes of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) and problems, seeking safety from them and from problems.
