Fasting or Breaking the Fast for the Traveler Performing 'Umrah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 3102 )
Q: We inform you that during the month of Ramadan, the Muslim community needs to
Traveling to perform 'Umrah and other things, please inform us whether it is better for the fasting traveler performing 'Umrah to fast or to break his fast, and I hope from Allah, then from your eminence, a detailed explanation of this, along with an explanation of the following: Which is better for the one performing 'Umrah, to pray as many of the obligatory prayers as he can after completing the rites of 'Umrah, or to travel directly as soon as his 'Umrah ends?

A: First: The Sunnah for the one who travels to perform 'Umrah in the month of Ramadan is to break his fast; because Allah has granted him a dispensation in that, and Allah loves for His dispensations to be taken, just as He dislikes for His disobedience to be committed. If he fasts, there is no blame on him. Second: There is no doubt that staying in Makkah to pray there is better for the one for whom that is facilitated; because prayer in the Sacred Mosque is multiplied by a hundred thousand prayers, and if he travels after finishing his 'Umrah, there is no blame on him in that. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
