The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 3591 )
Q5: We have learned thatal-Juhfahis the miqat for the people ofEgyptand the people ofthe Maghrebwho are opposite it, and we have learned thatal-Juhfahwas a village by the sea, likeJeddah, oppositeJeddahin the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), where he supplicated that the fever ofal-Madinahand its plague be transferred to it, then the sea took it afterwards and it became in the sea, and do the people ofthe Maghreband the people ofSudanwho face the sea in Suakinand Port Sudando they enter the state of ihram at sea,in light of
the present time? Or do they enter the state of ihram in Jeddah considering the first time?
A5 : It is known that al-Juhfah is not opposite Jeddah , but rather it is opposite Rabigh approximately. It is obligatory for the people of Egypt and the people of the Maghreb to enter the state of ihram from Rabigh , or from what is opposite it by air if they travel by plane, or from what is opposite it by sea if they travel by sea. It is not permissible for them to delay entering the state of ihram until they enter it from Jeddah . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
