Hajj as a prize in a competition

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6277 )
Q1: I had a chance to be one of the winners in a competition in
Islamic sciences,
and the prize was Hajj to the Sacred House of Allah . That was the year before last, and I actually went the year before last and performed Hajj at the Sacred House of Allah . The question is: I intend to perform Hajj this year on behalf of my brother, whom Allah took at the age of twenty. Does my previous Hajj fulfill the obligatory Hajj so that I can then perform Hajj on behalf of my deceased brother, or must I perform Hajj for myself again, because the competition Hajj did not fulfill the obligation?

A1: Your Hajj is sufficient, and it is considered the performance of the obligatory duty for yourself. You may then perform Hajj on behalf of your deceased brother. May Allah reward you with good. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
