I am a Muslim girl who grew up in a religious family; I maintain my prayers and I fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I am a young Muslim woman who has had faith in her heart since childhood, because I grew up in a conservative and religious family. I perform the prayers at their times and I do not take a single step without keeping Allah before my eyes. I think a lot to myself about the Day of Reckoning and I fear the punishment of Allah. Nevertheless, I have not worn the hijab, even though I am always thinking about wearing the hijab in the future. So, is my share in the Hereafter the Fire? Guide us, may Allah reward you?

The Shaykh : This question contains two issues. The first issue is the description she gave of herself regarding her uprightness upon the religion of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), in that she grew up in a righteous environment. If the reason for her describing herself this way is to speak of the blessing of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and to make this report a means for others to follow her example, then this is a good intention for which she will be rewarded, and perhaps she will fall under the saying of Allah the Exalted:
But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].
[Ad-Duhaa 93:11]
and the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who sets a good precedent in Islam, there is a reward for him for this (act of goodness) and reward of that also who acted according to it subsequently
Sahih Muslim 1017a
. But if the reason for her doing so is self-praise, flattery, and showing off her deeds to her Lord, then this is a bad and serious intention, and I do not think she intends that, if Allah wills.
As for the second issue, it is her negligence regarding the hijab, as she mentioned about herself, and she asks whether she will be punished by the Fire in the Hereafter for that?
The answer to that is: that everyone who disobeys Allah (Mighty and Majestic) with a sin that good deeds do not expiate is in danger. If it is shirk (associating partners with Allah) and kufr (disbelief) that takes one out of the religion, then the punishment is certain for whoever associates partners with Allah and disbelieves in Him:
Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:72]
,
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills
[An-Nisa 4:48]
. And if it is less than that, meaning less than the disbelief that takes one out of the religion, and it is among the sins that good deeds do not expiate, then it is under the will of Allah (Mighty and Majestic): if Allah wills, He will punish him, and if He wills, He will forgive him, as Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills
[An-Nisa 4:48]
.
The hijab that a woman must adopt is to cover her entire body from anyone other than her husband and her mahram (close relatives). This is based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused
[Al-Ahzab 33:59]
. The jilbab is the sheet or the wide cloak that covers the entire body. So Allah the Exalted commanded His Prophet to say to his wives, his daughters, and the women of the believers:
to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments
[Al-Ahzab 33:59]
so that they cover their faces and their necks. The evidence from the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), correct reasoning, consideration, and the standard of judgment indicate that it is obligatory for a woman to cover her face from foreign men who are not her mahram and not her husbands. No sane person doubts that if it is obligatory for a woman to cover her head, cover her feet, and not strike with her feet so that what she hides of her adornment, such as the anklet and the like, is not known, then no sane person doubts that if this is obligatory, then the obligation to cover the face is more emphatic and greater. This is because the fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) that occurs in uncovering the face is much greater than the fitnah that occurs in looking at a hair from her head or a nail from her feet. And if the sane believer reflects on this Shari'ah (Islamic sacred law), its ruling, and its secrets, it becomes clear to him that it is not possible to obligate a woman to cover her head, neck, arm, leg, and foot, and then permit the woman to expose her hands and her face, which is full of beauty and adornment, because that is contrary to wisdom. And whoever reflects on what people have fallen into today of negligence in covering the face, which led to the woman being negligent about what is beyond it, where she exposes her head, neck, throat, and arm and walks in the markets without concern in some Islamic countries, knows that wisdom necessitates obliging women to cover their faces. So, O woman, you must fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and you must observe the obligatory hijab, which is covering the entire body from anyone other than husbands and mahram, so that there is no fitnah, and you must fear Allah the Exalted in that as much as you are able.
