Combining intentions for a single act

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 13019 )
Q: Is it permissible for a person to combine intentions in one act, or for one act? For example, if he has to make up a day from Ramadan and the Day of 'Arafah comes, is it permissible for him to intend to fast both the make-up day and the voluntary fast on that day, with one intention for the make-up and another for the voluntary fast? Or is it permissible to combine Hajj and 'Umrah during the time of Hajj? Please give us a ruling; may Allah benefit you and reward you with the best reward.
A: There is no harm in fasting on the Day of 'Arafah to make up a missed day, and it suffices for the make-up fast, but he will not obtain the virtue of fasting on the Day of 'Arafah in addition to that, because there is no evidence for it. As for entering 'Umrah into Hajj, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) explicitly stated this in his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Umrah has been entered into Hajj until the Day of Resurrection.دخلت العمرة في الحج إلى يوم القيامة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 932Sahih (Darussalam)
.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
